Understand Once you understand that connection, you can then decide what it means to you, your body and your life. Does that food serve you, or are you eating it as an emotional response? Is the clut- ter creating the anxiety in your body that then spills out to you yelling at a loved one? Under- stand that behind every feeling is an emotion and emotion is energy that moves you. Under- stand that your body wants to be in alignment. It wants to feel balanced, to feel great! It’s scream- ing at you to take care of it with compassion because you are the only one who can know you best. When you understand, become aware, and pay attention to the patterns, you can act. Take Action Everything in life is about choices. And I’m going to make a bold statement here and say there are no wrong choices. It’s all about learn- ing so that you can continue to grow and expand.
Unconsciously our minds prefer dealing with the chronic IBS or headache rather than the fear of change, so take it one step at a time. For exam- ple, if you know that dairy wreaks havoc on your system, but don’t want to go cold turkey, start by swapping out milk for a non-dairy alterna- tive for coffee. Or if you’re used to yogurt for breakfast, try coconut yogurt. Pick one meal or one food to shift every week and pay attention to how you feel. Maybe you’ve tried everything and just don’t know what to do next. Consider then, that it may be time to work with a functional practi- tioner who can help you with specific at-home testing, so you can stop guessing. Whatever turn you take on your journey, the most important thing to remember is to have grace and compas- sion for yourself along the way. Imagine hope. Imagine a better way. This is your journey and you are ok.
