I have been a nurse for over a decade. At the age of 20, I was diagnosed with a lifelong chronic illness with no known cause or cure. Like many others, I turned to our health- care system for answers. I wholeheartedly believe that we are incredibly blessed to live in a country where we have access to amazing tech- nology, R&D, lifesaving medications and vaccinations, However, what my condition taught me is don't under- estimate the healing ability of your own body through the power of natural, holistic and herbal medicine (which in fact was the FIRST medicine). My story led me to tons of research to try to understand the root cause of my own illness as well as how to allowmy body to naturally heal. As a result, I combined my nursing knowledge with what I learned about the holistic world and developed the Five Pillars of Health. 1 Pillar 1: Inflammation: When understanding health and illness, you have to first start at the cellular level. The ph balance in our cells affects the level of inflammation in our body. Ph is a scale of how acidic or alkaline you are. 0 to 6.9 is acidic, 7 is neutral and over 7 to 14 is alkaline. All humans are meant to be alkaline but over time, our lifestyle, stress, eating habits, sleep patterns tip us over to the acidic level. Themore acidic you are, themore inflammation you carry. Acidic ph plays a role in everything from chronic illnesses to even obesity! Pro-tip: Include a dailymineral supplement in your routine.

Magnesium, Potassium, Zinc, Copper and Manganese are naturally occurring alkaline minerals in our body and are

excellent for battling inflammation. 2 Pillar 2: Optimal Digestion

A healthy gut requires a balance of good and bad bacte- ria. A healthy gut poops at least 1-2 times a day (ice cream consistency). 60 to 80%of your immune system and 90%of the body’s serotonin (happy hormone) lie in the gut. Your gut produces the master antioxidant called Glutathione which helps fight off free radicals in the body. Pro-tips: Address Pillar 1! Your gut health directly influ- ences the level of inflammation you carry in your body. Incorporate a daily probiotic in your routine and take a digestive enzyme supplement before each meal. 3 Pillar 3: Hormones. The major reason for our hormones being out of balance include our diets, stress, poor digestion and liver stagna- tion, GMO's and products marketed as "healthy" such as SOY! Soy produces extra estrogen in women ANDmen, has been linked to many cancers, messes with female fertility and thyroid function. Pro-tips: Reduce inflammation and balance gut health Add a Vitamin C daily which helps with Adrenal gland support and Iodine and Seleniumwhich are wonderful for our hormones especially for the thyroid!
